LOST CHORD
Lost Chord was founded by our Chief Executive Helena Muller in 1999. From its earliest beginnings with 11 residential homes in Rotherham, Lost Chord has expanded into many parts of South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, with satellite schemes in London, Cardiff, Coventry, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.

Lost Chord produces more than 1870 interactive musical sessions of a therapeutic nature every year in more than 170 settings, designed to stimulate responses from People with Dementia through the media of music, song and dance, raising self-esteem and improving quality of life.

However, during the corona virus pandemic and starting in the lockdown period Lost Chord has been able to maintain its service in the form of 3 videos a week performed by Lost Chord musicians going out on social media via You Tube to all residential homes free of charge. This service will continue to operate until access is resumed in all residential homes.

Lost Chord under normal circumstances uses volunteers to assist the musicians in their efforts to stimulate responses from those who are often unable to communicate in any other way. If you are interested in helping to transform the lives of people with dementia, please contact the Lost Chord office and we will keep your details on file until such time as a normal service is resumed.

Dementia is the biggest challenge in the 21st Century therefore until a cure is found, intervention is crucial!
